The Nur Otan Party congress, which was dedicated to the Party's 20th anniversary, was attended by delegates elected at regional conferences, members of the Kazakh Parliament, heads of governmental bodies, national holdings and companies, representatives of the civil society, non-governmental and youth organisations, international organisations, diplomatic corps, primary party organisations, as well as journalists, scientist, artists and Party veterans.
Prior to the main event, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev visited a special exhibition dedicated to the current work, internal modernisation and history of the Nur Otan Party. The Head of State was briefed in detail on the new monitoring system for the implementation of the state-of-the-nation address and the “Five Social Initiatives" programme, as well as the results of the implementation of Party projects. The President of Kazakhstan also got acquainted with the new “Digital Party" system.
Speaking at the congress, President Nazarbayev highlighted Kazakhstan's achievements over the past 20 years and emphasised the Nur Otan Party's role in all the positive changes that have taken place in the country.
“Our main priority is to ensure a decent standard of living for our citizens and the development of Kazakhstan as a socially oriented state. Even in the most difficult times, we fulfilled our social obligations. The level of social spending in the country has always been high, and in the future, it will consistently grow," said Nazarbayev.
The President of Kazakhstan also announced the funds from the National Fund would be allocated to improve the quality of life and well-being of citizens.
The Head of State outlined the key areas for the further implementation of the social policy and indicated the need for the Party's active participation in this process.
“The Party should be actively involved in solving everyday issues of the population. The “Халыққа көмек" [“Help to the People"] project is set to strengthen this work. Today, it is important to quickly respond to current public inquiries and focus the governmental bodies' attention on them," said Nazarbayev.
The congress approved the Party's new programme until 2030 titled “Society for Welfare: 10 Goals of the Decade", the new composition of the Party's Political Council and Central Control and Auditing Commission. The congress also made changes and additions to the Party's Charter and accepted reports on the work of the Political Council of the Party and the Central Control and Auditing Commission.
